Welcome to Eatin' Somethin' Different, a charming cafe nestled at 607 Twin Blvd in Alexandria, MN. This delightful establishment is more than just a place to grab a bite; it embodies the warmth of family-owned hospitality and serves up a menu that’s as comforting as it is eclectic.

As you step inside, you're greeted by the savory aromas of homemade meals that remind you of gathering around Grandma's table. The vibe is relaxed and inviting, making it the perfect spot for heartfelt conversation with friends or a quiet meal solo. With no distracting TVs or blaring radios, patrons can fully engage in delightful chats, echoing the sentiments of loyal fans like Melanie Stettler, who found the atmosphere peaceful and enjoyable.

The menu at Eatin' Somethin' Different offers a variety of satisfying options that celebrate classic flavors with a twist. For lunch, indulge in their famous Chef Salad ($12.50) or the hearty Steak Salad ($13.00) if you're in the mood for something more substantial. And don’t overlook the chili fries celebrated by Michelle Aslagson-Klimek—a winner in flavor that pairs exceptionally with their perfectly cooked cheeseburger.

Breakfast lovers will appreciate the all-star breakfast dishes that keep guests coming back for more. Enjoy a plate that comes with two perfectly cooked eggs, crispy ham slices, toast, and golden hash browns—ideal even for the pickiest of eaters, as Uken Fukeoffe can attest. Furthermore, their surprise omelet is renowned among regulars, and the sweet offer of homemade caramel rolls has captured hearts and stomachs alike.

And let's not forget dessert! Treat yourself to the delightful Apple Churro ($6.00) or warm Grandpa's Bread Pudding ($5.00) for a sweet conclusion to your meal, completing your culinary journey with a flourish.

However, it's important to mention that this beloved eatery is facing an uncertain future, as it will be closing its doors on September 14, 2024, due to the building being sold. This cafe isn't just a restaurant; it's a cornerstone of the community—a sentiment echoed by Candy Mack, who fondly recalls the irresistible taste of Grandma's cooking. As patrons gather one last time to create lasting memories, there’s a bittersweet echo of nostalgia in the air.

We both ordered the lunch special, which was a cheeseburger, chili fries, and a dessert. The burger was cooked perfectly. The bun was toasted (which I love) the chili fries were good (could've used onion on top buy that's just my personal opinion) and the double fudge brownie was warm and a light crisp to it. Sooo yummy! The food was all very good. We'd definitely go back just for the food. The servers were both very friendly. You could tell they enjoy their jobs. They both checked on their tables regularly and were happy to accommodate. The atmosphere was clean, fresh, and inviting. Nothing out of place. I do have to say that next time we will sit at a table vs a booth, which I always request. The booths were new and comfortable, but they were a little too tall for us to be comfortable. We are both 5'4" (on a tall day), and our feet couldn't touch the ground, causing my legs to fall asleep. All in all, we couldn't have asked for a better first time experience. It's great to see a great restaurant that isn't a chain in our area. Help make our locally owned businesses survive and eat here!

My wife and I went here for dinner and if you've read my previous post you know my wife has a gluten allergy. And this place is Gluten friendly they don't have buns but they do have bread Shay was our server, she has a nice sense of humor (which is needed with a character like me). We will have to make ESD a new date spot. We will definitely be back

First time dining in had breakfast two eggs over easy four pieces of toast the ham slices and hash browns it was all really good tasting it was all hot I prefer my hashbrowns a little crunchier but no complaints March 6 I'm here again it's my birthday and I'm having the full breakfast it's worth the money. Two eggs meat toast and hash browns. I'm a picky person and this is my 3rd visit. If your in Alex and need a quiet place to eat breakfast this is the spot 3 13 this place has become one of my favorite places for a meal wether it be breakfast or later I recommend checking them out. Helpful friendly staff awesome food and it a cozy place to eat.

Perfect place to eat and have great conversation! No TV or radio blaring. Very peaceful. Right next to shopping. Daily breakfast, lunch and supper specials. The staff is so fun to chat with and the surprise omelet it wonderful! We shared a caramel roll and the omelet this morning. Made to perfection!

Great homemade food. Best food ever. Homemade carmel rolls were my favorite, but grandma made every dish great tasting where you want more. Unfortunately, doors are closing on September 14,24. The owner of the building sold the building. This restaurant was a major structure to a small community. I hope the owner of the restaurant will find a new location. I loved grandma's cooking.
